I MADE IT........... YAHOO!!!!!!

Post by v_b_gael_h » Mon Oct 29, 2007 7:02 pm

[woohoo]

Although I have not been that long with Talking Scot I feel that you are deserving of sharing in a success story your assistance enabled.

My first letter referred me finding a living cuz'; 2nd cuz. You may now add to that but not of the cuz side - I HAVE BEEN IN CONTACT WITH MY BIRTH MOTHER AND SIBLINGS!!!!!

The shock and surprise was very emotional to all as we had all been looking around blind. Information could not be divulged by government pertaining me as it was compulsory, and the law, only the adoptee could do this.
Now my adopted parents and natural family are going to be getting together (no doubt telling tales of my mischievious days). The former are
extremely happy over this too. I have younger brothers and sisters to try and make up lost years to too.
It was fulfilling to discover that they all wanted to find me.

Thanks Talking Scot, even though you think you did nothing you don't know how much you actually enabled.

Congratulations! That is wonderful news. :D I didn't manage to find my mother's birth family until she was 85 years old, but it was still a huge thrill for all concerned, so I can understand how excited you must be.
[cheers]

:D Thank you all for your kind responses. It is a very numbing and exciting feeling and shock.......well I guess you can imagine.

Sarah, I guess I'm fortunate in a sense. My mother is going to be 74 in five weeks but I just missed out on meeting my grandfather. Grandmother passed away not long after my birth.
I was the double of my mother at 14; however, the oldest girl within my siblings, was my double at age 8. We are still very much alike except I have the brown hair of mum and she continues to be fairheaded. This sister is especially happy because she has always wanted an older sister.

There are 5 siblings (3 male, 2 female) one year between each with the oldest being 5 years younger than myself.

I shall be speaking with some of them, and my mother, tomorrow. I am also especially fortunate to have special adopted parents for their support too. My parents will be going to meet with them all as I am presently halfway around the world from them.

Thanks again for all your kind and gracious responses. I'm still trying to get it all together; I keep pinching myself to see that it's real and reread all the e-mails to make sure they are there too.

I know how excited I get when I make a connection with a 4x removed or whatever. I can't imagine how it must feel to find your birth family and siblings. Congratulations and well done!
