Alternatives for forename Calum?.....

Post by JayPee » Tue Jul 05, 2005 4:28 am

One of the long-losts for which I'm searching has the forename "Calum" (according to the written record of one of the long-losts). He does not appear (as Calum) in the areas I'm fairly certain he should be located. Can anyone suggest alternative forenames for which "Calum" is/was a common nickname, between, say, 1820 and 1850? My first thoughts are Malcolm and Colin.
Thanks,
- JayPee

Hi
We havel a brother in law, Callum, and only found out his real name is Malcolm at his wedding when the Minister called him Malcolm  . Don't know about 1820/1850 but I'd try Malcolm.
Good luck

Hi

Also make sure you try Callum with two ls. Malcolm is the English version of Calum and therefore most likely as people were meant to register their children's births in English.

Thanks, Merlot and Anne! I'll keep "Malcolm" in mind when I return to hunting for him.
