Hi Bruce,

I took a quick look on World Connect tonight for your family, but without knowing the parents names, it was difficult for me to narrow down your kin.

http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/

There were no matches for your Flora Finlayson, but there were over 300 pages of listings for John Marshall. It may be worth your time to scroll through that list to see if you find any connections?

Just click on the link above and plug in Marshall as the surname and John as the given and click "Go" and the data base will appear.

Good luck!
Marilyn

Hi Bruce,

Perhaps someone else may be able to help, now that you've posted the parents names. We all have that one relative who drops off the map, how dare they?

Bruce,

Here are two websites which might help you research your Marshall/Finlayson family in Saskatchewan:

http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~sksas ... hewan.html

http://www.collectionscanada.gc.ca/8/12 ... katoon-003

One will get you to some newspaper archives and the other is a genforum for Saskatchewan.

Brian,

I found a WWI registration form for James Finlayson, Flora's youngest brother. He signs up with the Black Watch on 3 Sep 1914 for "three years with the Colours". He lists himself as being born in Errol, Perth, 20 years old, a roadman.

There are many records for Alexander Finlaysons and with dial-up it would take me forever to look at them. Maybe someone with a faster connection can check a few of them for you.

From the 1891 and 1901 Census records I have Hugh and Elspeth with the following children:

Lizzie born in 1879
Mary 1884
Hugh 1886
Jane (Jeannie) 1889
Flora 1891
James 1894
Alexander 1897

All born in Errol parish, Perth County. Which one was your grandmother and the sister you said you found?
