help deciphering maiden names please

Post by bluedaisy » Tue Nov 04, 2008 12:07 pm

Hello Again,
I have uploaded Philip McBreen and Sarah Logue's marriage extract to the gallery - thanks in advance for it's approval.

This extract has been bugging me for a while now -
I wouldn't mind having the whole thing confirmed to me but particularly any help with the maiden names of both mums would be really useful.

Thanks again,
Maura

I thought the bride's mother's name was McClure and a check at the IGI shows children born to such a couple only it's McLure. A census check should show if these are Sarah's siblings.

Results for: Father: Neil Logue, Mother: Mary Mclure

International Genealogical Index / British Isles - 2

1. JAMES LOGUE - International Genealogical Index
Gender: Male Birth: 27 FEB 1868 High Church, Glasgow, Lanark, Scotland

2. ANNIE LOGUE - International Genealogical Index
Gender: Female Birth: 03 MAY 1872 High Church, Glasgow, Lanark, Scotland

As for the groom my best guess would be McPhilips.

Regards,
Annette

Hi Maura:

The poor assistant registrar is certainly not very consistent in any of the spellings in this document. I'm not able to decide if the priest's name is Schutte or Schulte, but this is how I read the rest.

1883
on the Thirty first
day of December
at St. Francis Chapel
Cumberland Street
Glasgow
After publication
according to the forms
of the Roman Catholic
Church

(Signed) Philip McBreen,

Parents: James McBraine (note different spelling)
Farrier
(Journeyman) deceased
and
Mary McBraine (note different spelling)
M.S. McPhilips

(Signed) Sarah [her X mark] Logue
Bertrand Schutte Witness
Shirt Finisher
(Spinster)
Age: 26
Residence 52 Rose Street, Glasgow
Parents: Neil Louge (different spelling)
Road Labourer
and
Mary Louge (spelling again)
M.S. McClure

(Signed) Bertrand Schutte
St. Francis
Glasgow
(Signed)
Hugh [his X mark] O'Brien
B. Schutte Witness
Mary [her X mark] Gallegher

Hope this helps,
