How do you know he drowned at sea, how old was he or when / where was he born and where have you already looked ?

Sorry for asking more questions but the more information you give the more likely someone will be able to help you.
Scotland - Donaldson / Moggach / Shaw / Geddes / Sim / Gray / Mackie / Richards / Joel / Coull / Mckimmie / Panton / McGregor
Ireland and Scotland - Casey / McDade / Phillips / McCandle / Dinely / Comaskey + various spellings

Hello Biz,

I had a distant cousin who drowned at sea in the 1880's. I found his death record in scotlandspeople. It was in the Marine Register (part of the Minor Records)

Have you tried a search for him of Scotlands People? As far as I'm aware any deaths noted in the marine register should show up there. The only marine register death I saw gave away very little; no more than was in the SP summary of the entry.

Best wishes
Lesley
