Hi.
I have that they married Sept. 27, 1947 in London, and that they were both born in London, he in 1918 and she 1921.
What I'm looking for is the names of Frederick's parents. He was born Sept. 12, 1918 and died Nov. 6, 1984 in London.
The mother's maiden name may have been Costman.

Hi Dennis
This is so far fetched I don't know why I'm telling you...but still....here are some odd puzzle pieces that may or may not end up fitting
First off you realize that England MC do not show mother's name...only the father. If you obtained the MC for Frederick and Mary then you would know his father's name already. And since you know the marriage date.....there's nothing left to do but go for the cert. Oddly enough though....the marriage does not appear in the FreeBMD indexes. I have to assume that it just hasn't been transcribed yet. Both the death of Frederick Henry Pescod and Mary Duthie Pescod appear in the indexes but searching for a BC for either of these people is coming up dry. However...using your clue of Costman as a mother's name.....what about this?
....in the Sep quarter of 1911 in Poplar District Vol 1C Page 959 there was born a William G. PESCOD and his mother's name is indexed as COATMAN. Pretty close to Costman huh? Also found in Poplar District in the Mar quarter of 1910 is the birth of a Jim Daniel PESCOD Vol 1c Page 524a. No mother's name indicated so no way of knowing if a connection. No birth for a Frederick Henry though....or any other PESCOD's. Now for the search for a likely marriage....which reveals Elizabeth Alice COATMAN to a Daniel Thomas PESCOD in Poplar District Vol 1 C Page 717 in Mar quarter of 1910. A search for Elizabeth Alice in the 1901 census doesn't come up with anything promising....but a birth search comes up with Elizabeth Alice COATMAN born June quarter of 1889 in Poplar district and a 1891 census peek comes up with an Elizabeth A age 2 with father William H. and mother Jane and baby sister Margaret J. 3 months living in East Ham, Essex but Elizabeth A. listed born Bromley.
Like I said before....don't know why I'm telling you all this but do hope somehow it might prove to be helpful.....
Best wishes
Jean

Hello Jean,
Where I got the info on the dates was from this place:
http://www.1837online.com/Trace2web/
I've gone back to the beginning of 1915 but see no marriage, as yet, for a Pescod and Costman.

Hi Dennis/Jean
1837online shows a birth in the Dec quarter of 1918 for Frederick H Pescod - Camberwell 1d 1128. Mother's maiden name is a bit difficult to make out on the digitised version but is either Costman or Coatman. When enlarged it looks more like Coatman. I've checked the 1911 entry for William G Pescod and that has the same problem - not absolutely clear but I'm inclined to think Coatman. Either way, it's the same name on both entries and I think Jean is probably right to think that this is all the same family - Poplar and Camberwell are not far apart even though they are on opposite sides of the Thames. (The 1910 entry for Jim Daniel Pescod doesn't show the mother's maiden name as these were only included in the index from 1911.)
Pescod is not a common name at all and the marriage of a Pescod to a Coatman as given by Jean is almost certainly the one you want - it's the right time in the right place and the chances of there being two marriages of these surnames at this time/place is very unlikely. However, the only way you can be sure is by getting Frederick's birth cert using the above info and checking his parents' names on this.
