John Nicol & Marion Greenhorn married in Pumpherston 1901

I am looking for the ancestry of John Nicol who married Marion Greenhorn on 4 Jun 1901 at Pumpherston. They went on to have at least 5 children and one of these, Janet, married a William Mair and had at least one child in Ecclesmachen. Is anyone researching this family? :)

Do you have the marriage certificate for the couple ?

It can be obtained from ScotlandsPeople [ use the link at the top of the page]

There is one record for a couple of those names, marrying in 1901.

That should give you not only the couples ages & occupations, but both fathers' names and occupations and the mothers' names and maiden Surnames too.

As a bonus, it being the year of the census, there should be addresses for the couple so you may be able to pin down some siblings if they were living at home.

Using the information gleaned from the MC can lead to finding the couples Birth certificates and their parents marriage certificates and providing they were in Scotland the details further back.

John Nicol and Marion Greenhorn were my grandparents. As stated,their daughter Janet (Jenny) married William Mair. They were my parents.
