Anyone know where Binnies Court in Glasgow was? .....
I've got a record from 1881 census listing the address as just Binnies Court in Glasgow. Does anyone know where this was? Thanks
May the force be with you

Can't find it on a map but following the census route it is not far from Jamaica Street and off Argyle Street. Glasgow had (and still has) lots of lanes and courtyards.
If you go to www.old-maps.co.uk and type in coordinates - 258590, 665018 and zoom in I think Binnies Court would have been somewhere between Jamaica Street and Robertson Street.
Kind regards,

Re Binnie's Court
Hi folks,
Binnie's Court appears to have been BENNIE's Court, and was at 285 Argyle St.
Oswald St corner is 275 Argyle St, 285 is Bennie's Court, 309 Argyle St is the Robertson St corner.
It would seem that the address was a backland or internal court, with the main entrance being at 285.

ps, if you go to
http://www.nls.uk/digitallibrary/map/to ... plans.html
and select Glasgow [1892-4]
click on Centre Square
click on VI.10.15 (3rd up, 3rd from right)
zoom in near bottom LH corner and you'll see a largish area surrounded by buildings that can be
entered off the south side of Argyle St (between Robertson St & Oswald St.)
I think this could be Bennie's Court.
