Hi all,
I have had an individual from the 1940's hovering around my tree for some time now, and hadn't really paid her all that much attention. She may still be alive, so I suppose I shouldn't mention her name.
But my mother would tell me her granny Corr was raising this child, who was about the same age as her (as my mum). I assumed she was a relative, orphaned or perhaps the family couldn't manage. Mum got on well with this girl, and they all used to go away on holidays together to Port Seaton.
Well, I found her parents tonight. I found who she belongs to and it brought tears to my eyes, just to know she was somebody's child. And so much a part of the family.
It turns out the cousin was a child of mum's aunt...and what is really nice is that this sister was named after her own grandmother. I like that sort of thing.
The mother of childbirth fever in 1945. Her father was still around to sign the death certificate, but he must have allowed my great granny to raise his child. That is how I found the evidence, by the mother's death...I had lost hope of finding the child because I knew she was too young to appear on SP...but something just made me search wider tonight.
My mum never knew where this cousin came from. It was never explained, and mum never asked....not like today where kids ask about EVERYTHING!
I just wanted to share this small success!
Nina

How lovely I am so glad you found out who she was & sad that her Mum died.
I too have living rellies who I am not too sure of their parentage but you know that doesn't matter to me(I love them just the same) & yet I fret over what happened 100+ years ago.Go figure!
