Notation question .....

Post by Lahb » Tue Mar 28, 2006 6:07 am

A cousin emailed me a copy of an OPR she received some years ago for the parish of Dumbarton (dated 24.11.1854). On the left column there is a number 3. and underneath is a squiggly mark with what looks like "8/6" beside it. It is the only OPR on this page to have such a mark (its for the banns being read). Anyone with OPR experience have any idea what this notation might indicate? I've never seen one with this before. It is a second marriage for both if that means anything.

Lisa

I'd need to have a look at this and a few pages either side to be sure, but it sounds like the fee for the proclamation of the banns.
