Anyone know of a common name that could have been used as interchangeable for Thomas?
Thanks

Thomson, Tamson, Tammas, MacTammas, MacTavish, Tomkins, Tomkinson, Mac Thomas, MacThamhais, MacThom, MacCombich, MacComb, MacCombie etc.

Judy:
If you post names, dates and area for the person for whom you are searching, I'm sure there are persons on this board who would be able to help.

I am trying to identify the father of Thomas Brander married Christian Strachan in June 20, 1766 in Glass, Scotland
The family "homestead" was called Crainmore. In a book entitled Glass, The Story of a Parish - it discussed tenants and I quote, " 1735, John Brander, North Crainmore, he had sons George and Thomas.
from the OPR records specific for Glass Baptisms (I have record info from 1750 on) There are entires for Thomas & Christians children starting in 1768.
I would guess Thomas was born between 1740-1750
I have the OPR's from 1700 and no Thomas's born.
