Wills .....

Post by sherylbadger » Mon May 08, 2006 12:39 pm

Just wondering if there is a cheaper way of getting some wills. I have found some on scotlands people but they are 5 Pound each and 2 of them only have 3 pages because they are additional inventory and the other two must be the wills because they are 15 pages.

What info will i gain from getting these?
Where/who can get them cheaper?

They are in cupar sheriff court

Thanks

Visit NAS in Edinburgh and you can read them on the computer screen for free.

The confirmation might have been handled by the commissariout of Cupar Sheriff Court but the record is now held by NAS in Edinburgh.

Testaments (the Scottish term) can include a range of information, and you can only tell when you see the full details what info is contained.

To be strictly correct, the douments that you are referring to are not the actual testaments but the records of the process of confirmation (Scottish equivalent of probate) which normally include a copy of the testament.

£5 for 15 pages is not a bad deal at all......... 10 A3 copies earlier today at NAS cost me £5.

Hi Sherylbadger

Get the wills if you can possibly do it. They are often really interesting mines of information.
