Found my Nana!

Post by emanday » Wed Aug 09, 2006 1:12 pm

In all the time I have been searching, my maternal grandmother's birth remained elusive. Tried every which way but found nuttin! Finally decided she'd got missed somehow.

Had her and my grandfather's marriage; found that very easily. Using her age and allowing for "wee white lies", she just wouldn't be found!

Today, I was going through my list of ](*,) and decided to use my last six SP credits on another try.

\:D/ \:D/ \:D/ \:D/

There she was - bold as brass!!

P.S. Can we have a "crumbling brick wall" smiley please [-o<

Thanks Mallag and Lesley.

I am so CHUFFED.

I know I could just have ordered a certificate; I mean, I knew when she was born (she didn't lie on her marriage cert  ) and where, who her parents were.

This is far more satisfying :D

Well done Emanday - that kind of thing really makes your day :D

I've also found recently that going over old stuff again can produce big results - I've agonised over missing people and their mysteries only to find the answer's been in an folder for months. Sometimes it takes a fresh pair of eyes and some additional fragment of info to crack it.

Enjoy - till the next ](*,) comes along.

Best wishes

Hi Emanday

Emanday

What was the tool that led to the breaking down of this brick wall ?

David

What a treat for you, Emanday! Could be that some indexing error at SP has been addressed or could it be that it's a full moon!?

Either way, I'm pleased for you,

I don't think I did anything different from before, David, but this time she showed up and I recognised her right away from the middle name (a very unusual one)!

Have to say, Frances, I wondered if an index had been corrected or added. Couldn't have been a full moon - I'm too busy howling during them

Thank you all for your congrats. I know all of you have probably felt the way I do right now \:D/ \:D/ \:D/ \:D/
