Great news but...

I just did a search for 1931 Marriages. I got 15 returns. When I viewed the list the groom's name was missing from 5 of them and the District and County (although the GROS Data was there) was missing for 5 of them (County 644).

The groom's name was missing from one of mine, but I knew it was mine from the bride's name. Anyone else finding Search data missing?

Re: missing county and district

Post by sporran » Thu Dec 28, 2006 11:26 pm

Hello thistle,

the problem with some counties and districts not being displayed is known by SP and should be addressed tomorrow. It is affecting a few districts that have sub-district numbers greater than 9, such as your 644/10 and 644/11. There are some other discrepancies and anomalies, but I am told that there are only a handful of those and they should also be corrected in due course.

I should receive an update on progress tomorrow. If you have lost credits then fill in a contact form.

John

Thanks, John. I haven't lost any credits. I was sure the one with the missing groom was mine and it was, but maybe I'll wait a few days for them to get the bugs out before I do anymore.

Re: blank county and district in results

Hello all (especially thistle),

SP have been working all day on the problem with sub-district numbers greater than 9. Most of the Glasgow ones have been sorted, but a few hundred records remain with wrong county and district information. SP will return to this problem in the New Year, but this is an especially busy time with new data and images on the way, so please be tolerant. SP hope to complete the task by the 12th of January.

Some search results will show no county and district but the GROS reference number will be shown. Searches that specify county, district, or both may not contain results that should be there, and some of those searches may display appropriate results but with the wrong label.

This problem also affects the 1901 census and possibly other years, as discovered by Andrew Paterson, who notified SP. However, in both cases, the number of rogue records remains very small in relation to the total.

Regards,

John

Sporran are you able to ask them why Australian searchers can't even get onto the site? I am so sad!

David

Do you actually mean there are some English hiding in Dundee who publicly admit they support the English cricket team
