It's probably because the dates are too recent. The Scottish records have cut-off dates for what's available on-line & I expect the English ones do too. My brain isn't working well enough at this time of night to tell you what the dates are but it should tell you someplace in the info on the website what the cut-offs are.

Hi Joyce,
The problem is that not all the marriages have been indexed yet. It is an ongoing project. Ancestry says that only about 50% of the marriages between 1837 and 1983 are in the online index. Most of the ones indexed are too early to be your family. I assume these are their births? Wow, that poor mother... one every year-- not much of a break in between!
England & Wales, FreeBMD Birth Index: 1837-1983
Name:Malcolm Kenneth Morgan
Year of Registration:1893
Quarter of Registration:Apr-May-Jun

County:Greater London, Hertfordshire, Middlesex

Name:Helen May Morgan
Year of Registration:1894
Quarter of Registration:Apr-May-Jun

Name:Winifred Morgan
Year of Registration:1895

All the best,

Re: English BMD records
Hello Joyce,
FreeBMD data is duplicated on Ancestry, and both allow search criteria to be entered. The years covered are up to about 1915 but they advance all the time (I am currently transcribing 1917 births).
However, findmypast (formerly 1837online) and Ancestry have all the statutory indexes 1837-1983 to view, but with no search available (because they are not in a datbase). Findmypast is a pay site, but with much better images and support, whereas you can view the records free on Ancestry, but you need to register with them (no credit card details are taken).
The technique is to specify the name and look through each quarter's index for matching names. From 1911 the spouse's surname is given. You must be careful with Ancestry, because they do not understand how to index properly. For example, if a name should have been inserted further up a column, the place is marked and the name to be inserted is written at the bottom. The numpties at Ancestry take that as the last name to index, so sometimes your name does not appear for a quarter. Make a note, search on a slightly earlier or later name, and jump a page.
As an example, suppose Ancestry were indexing animal species, and the list went from 'aardvark' to 'zebra'. Someone realised that 'jaguar' was missing, marked the place, and wrote 'jaguar' at the end. Ancestry would index this as 'aardvark' to 'jaguar', and a search for anything after 'jaguar' would produce nothing. They have been told - many, many times.
Regards,
John

Hi Joyce,
You've probably seen this death record:
England & Wales, Death Index: 1984-2004
Name: William Henry Peters
Birth Date: 24 Jan 1931
Death Registration Month/Year: Oct 2001
Age at death (estimated): 70
Registration district: Truro
Inferred County: Cornwall
Register number: B50D
Entry Number: 208
But no way to prove he is the correct William. And if their name wasn't Peters after all
Hmmmm.
It is very hard to find them with so little knowledge and especially, with no index! If you remember when Hilary's son died, it might be possible to go backwards to Hilary's marriage and then parents. By the way, is Hilary male or female? That name can go either way and it does change the way one looks for him/her!
One thing though, we're getting close to discussing living people... which we're not supposed to do on the public forum, although I can understand that you would like to find your cousins. Not sure what the time frame is for the projected transcription of the FreeBMD marriages. John, do you know, are the marriages any farther along than the births? Is there any way to estimate when the marriages Joyce is looking for (probably 1920-1930) will be indexed?
Regards,
Sarah
