One of my ancestors Francis Byrnes moved to Liverpool, according to Family I have spoken to he owned warehouses in that area.
The gravestone were his father Bernard was burried was errected byFrancis in 1855 and stated that he was in Liverpool at the time.
Of the records I have looked at for Liverpool, there is one family that might be a possible connection but I need to find a marriage for this Francis to confirm this is the correct Francis, but so far I have unable to trace a marriage.
Here is the information I have so far.
Francis Byrnes was married to Margaret Kay, they had the following children Margaret (b 1863) John (b1865) Mary J (1866) Edith (1868) Emily (b1870) Bertha (1871) and Francis Joseph Valentine (1875) they lived at 6 Spellow Lane Kirkdale in 1871 and 1881, Francis died in 1891.
Francis gave his occupation as a Warehouse keeper and was born in Ireland. Margaret Kay was born on the Isle of Man.
If anyone has any information on this family it would be greatly
appreceiated.
Regards
Paul

Francis Byrnes in Liverpool
Hi Paul,
Had a few credits left on Federation of Family History Societies site. They have the index of the 1851 Liverpool census & there are 3 Francis Byrnes listed. One was born in Ireland, Londonderry & has porter down as his occupation (no age given). He is living in the Lime St & St Annes ward/parish & is down as the only one of that surname at this address.
I also did a search for a Margaret Kay/Keay/Kaye but none are down as born in the Isle of Man.
I'm afraid I won't be able to get down to the Liverpool record office for 3-4 weeks to follow it up if you think it is your man, but the index details are:
Piece number & Part - 2184/1
Folio - 0060
Reg District - 461/7
I'll be back from Shetland at the end of June if I can be of any help.
Happy hunting!
Pat

Hi Paul
Do you have any additional info on Francis - age? mother's name? father's place of death?
I've had a look at the 1861 census but it doesn't give a great deal of help. There are only two Francis Byrnes born Ireland living in Liverpool. One was born in 1804 (too old?) and the other in 1846 (too young?). The first is with wife Mary, both lodgers, and the second is the son of Matthew and Margaret Byrnes.
Entering Francis Byrne brings up just one candidate, born c 1839, but this one is a wood carver. His mother Mary is Head of household but gives herself as married rather than widowed.
The only Margaret Kay born IOM is married to Stephen Kay and has several children.

Francis Byrnes
Hi there Thanks for your reply's, sorry for taking so long to get back to you.
From family information and the family grave back in Mullaghbawn County Armagh states that a Francis Byrnes moved to Liverpool according to family info, the Liverpool Byrnes's (as they were called) owned warehouses in the Liverpool area. The only Francis Byrnes that i found that might be him is this Francis Byrnes who was married to Margaret Kay, and who are on the 1871, 1881 and 1891 census in the Liverpool area.
I have had look at the 1861 census and the only possible i have found that could be him is the Francis Byrnes the Porter, but the only that makes me think that this is not him is the birth place being Londonderry as far a I know that the Byrnes were from county Armagh.
Francis's parents were Bernard Byrnes and Bridget (surname Unknown) Bernard died in 1855 in carrive county Armagh, Bridget Died in Armagh in 1881.
Thanks for all help.
Regards
Paul
