Erm! I'm still all of a flutter about this, but I have suddenly realised that I don't know what sort of stuff can be found at NAS or NRHSecond prize: 30 credits for Scotlandspeople AND three lookups of your choice at NAS or NRH goes to emanday
Just as an example - would either of them hold information about the association (possibly sasines) between my mysterious (and very small) Girtrig family and the Girtrig Mill, Girtrig Farm and Girtrig Mound or Mount in Ayrshire, where they seem to have been as far back as the 1600's?
The name was still hanging around as late as the VERY early 1900's, but usually only as a middle name, and the early ancestors are probably the ones I am most curious about. It could hardly be called a typical Scottish name and the variations, Gitrig, Gitrigg, Gerthrigg, Girtridge plus a few more, made tracing the ones I did find quite a marathon.
Would lookups on NAS or NRH be of any use to me for this?
