Emerald Ancestors .....

Post by nelmit » Thu Jul 12, 2007 10:41 am

I know a few people have been discussing this site and a couple have subscribed but what do you get for your money?

I know that my gg grandparents were married in Magheralin, Down in 1866 from one of their children's birth entries in Glasgow. A search of the site shows just such a marriage but what extra information might I get if I choose to pay to view?

Kind regards,
Annette M

Hello Annette
i have used Emerald ancestors and paid the monthly fee to see the further details (twice now :) )
for the fee you get
Date of marriage
Grooms Name
Brides Name
Church eg Belfast Roman Catholic Church ,------------ Presbyterian etc
Parish eg Belfast Urban
Civil District
County eg Antrim

and same with Birth Details you get...... childs name date of birth mother and fathers name urban district and county.

Civil Marriages:
Please note that the information contained in Civil Marriage registers can vary between individual records and across differing time periods. Typically, such records will provide the name of the Bride & Groom, age and occupation, Father's name and occupation, witnesses present and Parish or Church.

Emerald Ancestors will make every effort to transcribe all of the information contained in the original entry and send this to you in email format. We are, however, unable to provide a refund in circumstances where some of the above information is absent or illegible in registers, or differs from that contained in our databases. If we are unable to locate the entry in the original register, a full refund will be provided.

The cost of this look-up service is £12 per record

Civil Births:
Please note that the information contained in Civil Birth registers can vary between individual records and across differing time periods. Typically, such records will provide the name of the child, date of birth, parents' names, address or townland and registration district.

The cost of this look-up service is £12 per record.

Annette

Hi Maggie,

I took the plunge anyway as I could see a definite marriage of my gg grandparents and it was great to get an exact date and place.

Thanks a lot for the tip on the other site.

kind regards,

Hello Ailsa,

If it's not indexed from a search then it's not there.

Thanks Annette,
It jumps from 1900 to 1933 in the death index for any Youngs. Is there anywhere else to look for deaths. I am lost when it comes to Ireland genealogy. I have been doing mainly Scotlandspeopleonline for the past year and now appreciate it was much easier!

Hi Ailsa,

Did you ever receive your info from familyulster? I paid £6 over 2 weeks ago for a transcription but haven't heard a thing from them. Now I can't access the site. :?

Hello Annette,

They seem to be having a problem with something or other. Try this link, it should get you into the site via the side door.
