Catherine Robertson of Stirling - Birth?
Seeking a record for the birth of Catherine Robertson. She was the daughter of Bengemen (sp?) and born abt 1831. She later married William Orchard in Stirling, Scotland (1848). Can anyone help me find her birth record?

Hi Orchard,
I checked for her in 1851 to verify the birthplace. Is this the family in 1851? Ancestry has Catherine's name as "Culling". I have no idea what the original looks like:
App Bridge Sl, Stirling, Stirlingshire
William Orchard, 26, head, born England, Plate Layer
Culling Orchard, 26, wife, born Stirling, Dressmaker
Margaret Wight, 5 Mo, Child Nursing, born ??, Clackmanan
It looks like she took in a child to nurse. Did she lose a baby early on?
Have you searched for her birth on Scotland's People (link at top of page). I see there are 4 Cath* Robertsons born in Stirlingshire between 1820 and 1832, fewer than I expected to find with such a common name. If that is her 1851 record, she may have been born in 1824 or 1825. The problem is, as I'm sure you've found, none of them is the daughter of a Ben* The only Cath*, daughter of Ben* that I found was born in Angus-- could this be her?
Did you get her father's name from her death record?
Sorry, more questions than answers so far! But I just want to get straight how much you already have confirmed.
All the best,
Sarah

Hi all
This family and the same census info are in this post here:
http://talkingscot.com/forum/viewtopic. ... ght=#75207
In the interests of keeping all the info on the one family togther and also so that people do not duplicate efforts by looking up the same things twice, I'll lock this post.
Any additional info can be added to the original post, link as above.
Best wishes
Lesley
