Please note that September 15th is a local holiday in Edinburgh, and so all facilities at the GROS, National Archives and the new ScotlandsPeople Centre will be closed, as will the National Library of Scotland. Speaking from personal experience, it is a real pain to travel all that way for no gain! ...

Hi Alan,

I've downloaded this but it won't work. On looking for more info on CHM files through Google, a Wikipedia article states that CHM files behave poorly in IE7, which is what I have.

I think this is known as the 'law of the sod'...! :)

Were your couple alive after 1908? If so, and they were married by 1861, they may have been born before 1841, in the which case, they would probably have claimed a State Pension. Because "Whole" Ireland Statutory records didn't start until 1864 few Irish would-be pensioners had a valid Birth Certif...

1911 census for Kerry, Antrim and Down...

... will be released in October. New Canadian contractors have been appointed by Library and Archives Canada to digitise the remaining census records, and so the full 1901 and 1911 census programme is back on track for completion mid 2009, as originally intended.
