Well, there's always the Viking helmet... I'm afraid that if we wear kilts, people might suspect who we are  We don't want to get [talkingscot] into trouble!

I now have this vision of family historians flying about the world to raid attics, garages, huts etc., looking for vital historic information. Any ideas for a costume? Superman look out!
This sounds like a great idea for a TV programme!! "Raiders of the Lost Attic" or similar. Could make great viewing. A kind of fly on wall thing. Shocked look on the faces of those being raided, determination on the faces of the family historians, and smiles allround when the lost photos are found, and the raided folk hear the stories and the significance of the finds...

Best wishes
Lesley

Oh, yes! There are 'surprise' TV programmes for everything under the sun, so why not family history raids!
Great idea.
Any members who are TV producers?

My oldest photo is off Janet McFarlane nee Veitch my GGGGreat Grandfather's sister. She was born c 1810.It is taken in Sydney Australia where shew & hubby Duncan emigrated to with son Ramsay Wardlaw McFarlane(thank good ness for distinctive middle names).
It is dated about 1868 & she always scared me looking at the picture-I have no other rellies connected to the Scotts who it could be so am going by the location & time scale that it is her-she also looks like me!
The closest resemblance though is my Daddy's much older cousin pictured in her flapper dress-it could be me with fatter legs!

I love the idea of being a Raider of the Lost Attic. Unfortunately I think I've got all the photos etc. - all from one side of the family. My aunt on the other side, who was the one who inherited the family house & therefore all the "stuff", was more than a little gung-ho about throwing things out (she even burned a D. Y. Cameron once!!).
