Hi Anne

I have sent you a private message.

Re Alexander Yeaman he was born on the 28 May 1783 at Innerleithan.
On the 1851 Census he was born at Cragend, Peeblesshire.
On the 1841 Census his birth place is not in the county of Lanarkshire it does not mean he was born abroad.

Have not located Cragend on mapbut will keep looking.

Regards

Maggie and Peter

Hi Douglas

It is good to hear from a distant relation as there does not appear many others researching the family.
I have the copies of the records of William Fell who was married to Christina Yeaman and died in 1883 in The Partick Lunatic Asylum. He was admitted in April 1862. If you would like a copy I can send them to you.

Hi Anne Comrie here,

I visited Mitchell Library Glasgow last year (Gartnavel Archives). I showed the archivist copy of death cert re William Fell and he carried out a search for me. William was transferred from a private hospital to Gartnavel probably due to financial difficulties. The archivist informed me that a fire destroyed the private hospital's documentation, however I managed to get copy of the transfer from the Longdales hospital to Gartnavel which appears to be the only documentation regarding his incarceration. I can e-mail or post a copy of this to you.

Hi Annie

I have this information already for him.
Briefly, it seems he was an inmate Longdales Private Asylum (from around 1862), nearer to his home town, and then transferred to Glasgow Royal Lunatic Asylum/Gartnavel Royal Lunatic Asylum in Sept 1866. His 'number' was 2426.
I have these records
- His transfer form (going to Gartnavel, where he stayed and died)
- In the admissions book
- In the death record book

Could you please send me the info you have including the photo of William and Christina Fell. I missed your e-mail a couple of years ago.
We have not found any info on Longdales Private Asylum

Oops, Russell :) You are looking at the board as seen by an Admin member. Others can't access the email addresses, but the PM button should be there for you, Anne. Since it seems that the information you need to send would be in the form of an attachment to an email message, you can use the PM system to exchange email addresses with other members and then proceed.

All the best,
Sarah
