Hi there

It looks from your post that you are looking for all references to the names of Wishart and Millar - with such a general reference, I don't think you will get too many replies from TS, but I hope you do get some. You might get more replies if you could give general areas and time frames if you are searching for particular families.

You probably know that Wishart is a reasonably common name in some parts of Scotland. I have distant relatives of my own with that name mentioned, in Fife.

There are many sites which give an idea of surname distribution - a google search "surname distribution" produced 62,000+ sites; among them were:-

http://www.nationaltrustnames.org.uk/Surnames.aspx

http://www.britishsurnames.co.uk/

Surname distribution is fascinating - I've just spent an hour on some of the sites from the search above putting in my own family names!

Good luck with your searches.

If you can stand a touch of levity, I have a friend named Wishart, who claims it is a very holy name. For proof see first line of Lord's prayer.

Sorry about that.

Hello there. Your post is 4 years old, so don't know if you are still looking for Millars/Wisharts.

In my family tree I have William Wishart in Marykirk (b. 1791) married to May Millar. They had several children, one of whom was Andrew Millar Wishart, b. 1816.

Hello joelmc and a warm [TS_welcome]

The original poster hasn't been back on the forum since the post was made, but Scooter (another Wishart who posted on this topic) checks in regularly. Maybe he knows something about your Wishart line.

All the best,
Sarah
