Scottish Catholic Archive and Extracts ?

Post by RayJamGor » Tue Mar 11, 2014 11:12 pm

HI board :D , have been trying to trace Patrick Roche and his wife Bridget married 1865 at St Alphonsus chapel Glasgow. its in the SCA on Scotlands People with there names in a book . Would i be able to get that marriage as an Extract so as to find out about Patricks parents . All i know in the1891 census is they both state Co Galway Ireland as birthplace . ive got Bridgets death cert in 1913 and parents Patrick Welsh and Mary Welsh ms, Welsh .Patrick died also in 1913 but its in SCA and just a name in a book and grave in St Peters cemetery Dalbeth Glasgow.Ive been told Welsh is Walsh too in west Ireland and have possible location for Bridgets birth in Kilcummin Co Galway . Enough babbling , so am i able to get Extracts , thanks Ray :P

I would buy the civil copy of their marriage certificate as that should have both sets of parents names, occupations and should record whether they were still alive at the date of the marriage. (The civil cert can be downloaded on the SP site for a total of 6 credits).

Hi Ray and welcome to TS, :D

A search of the statutory marriages at Scotlands People shows Patrick indexed as Pat Roch. That's all you need to enter in the name boxes as there is only one.

Regards,
Annette

Thanks a million and it looks as though Bridgets name is Walsh instead of Welsh . So will keep searching on the Irish sites for Pat and Bridget . Thats great now to find my only great grandparent without a death cert William Taylor, husband of Agnes Miller born 1850 and died between 1901 and 1911 census in Orchard st Glasgow , cheers :-)

Hello RayJamGor
I had a quick look for the death of William Taylor between 1900 and 1912. There are 15 of them in a variety of locations in Glasgow, you probably have more information that would narrow it down a bit, so best of luck. [cheers]

Hi Ray Jam Gor:

https://familysearch.org/search/collection/igi shows William and Agnes having 3 children Mary, William and Robert. With some checking, you may be able to rule out some of the 12-15 that Stewie indicated that are on ScotlandsPeople.
