Tartan

Hey everyone - I hope this isn't a really silly question lol - but how do you decide which Tartan is your family tartan when you have lots of different surnames in your family tree? Do people have more than one or is there a specific rule for which one yours will be?

Hi Penni, not a silly question at all. I would say you can choose any tartan you fancy! You're lucky to have so many! I think that these days anyone can wear any tartan they like, unless its a proper formal Scottish occassion relating to particular clans, then someone might object.

oh thank you Billiegirl. I like the Livingstone tartan - I believe Livingstone is also McLea although I don't understand how that works at all lol. I also have Roy and Taylor. I suppose Taylor means the most to me though (lol Taylor doesnt sound very Scottish to me)
