John McNaught place of death

Post by DavidMK » Sat Feb 07, 2015 7:36 pm

I have uploaded(I hope ) a portion of death cert of John Park McNaught in Lanark in 1926. I cannot decipher address which may be a medical or other institution. Can some sharp eyed sleuth help me.

Hi David,

I think it is Kingson's Knowe.

Keep clicking on the bottom centre of this map until you can read the text. Then follow the road upwards from Bankhead and you should find Kingson's Knowe. There is no implication of anything other than housing there in 1864 when this map was published.

It looks little different in 1911.

And by 1947 the area was more built-up, but still nothing that looks any bigger than houses there.

I took a look at the full death certificate. It looks like both parents were dead and he was living at the same address as his sister, the person who was informant when registering the death. That address was 47 Salamanca Street, Parkhead, Glasgow. He died of acute bronchitis. Could he have been sent out of the city to where the air was fresher, to help his condition?

All the best,

Andrew P.

There are only 22 results when searching for Kingson (no S) Knowe in the 1925 valuation rolls.
