This is a very general inquiry. I am trying to find out in which year the Polish consulate in Kinnear Road, Edinburgh opened. I gather that this is the first such official Polish premises to have opened in Scotland. The reason I want to know is simply that the subject arose during a conversation with a colleague at work. I have a vague idea that the consulate may have opened in the early/mid 2000s. I have been on Google and checked out the websites of various Scottish newspapers to try and obtain the information. I have also telephoned the consulate but for some reason - probably unlucky timing on my part - I have been left hanging on the line on each occasion. I realise that this is not really a genealogical matter but it would simply satisfy my curiosity to know the answer.

Re: Polish consulate in Edinburgh
Hi Doddie,
I cannot find anything to say when the Polish Consulate opened in Edinburgh, but can tell you that it was earlier than you had thought. I have a Polish visa dated March 1991 stamped in my old passport, which I needed for a business trip in April 1991. I had to take my passport into the consulate in Kinnear Road to get the visa.
All the best,
AndrewP

Hi Doddie
A library would be able to help you find that information in an almanac, directory or telephone book. As Andrew has identified that it was open in 1991, it would be quick work to check back in 5 year increments and narrow it down.
Hope this helps
