Half cousin

Good evening. I have a question from a second cousin who has found a Marriage Certificate on which following the groom's name is the notation, 'half -cousin. I have not had time to look at this too closely but what would be the meaning of a half cousin? isk

Half cousins are descended from half siblings and would share one grandparent. The children of two half siblings are first half cousins. If half siblings have children with another pair of half siblings, the resulting children would be double half first cousins.

Andrew, very many thanks and apologies for not responding before this. I will need to take time to check names on the marriage certificate and I assume I am looking for brother and sister. sisters or brothers as the parents on the marriage certificate.
