Hi All
Also worth mentioning on the subject of free back up space: if you have a hotmail account (free), you have a few GB available for storage on "SkyDrive" - when signed into Hotmail, up the top of the page, click on the "More" menu and choose SkyDrive.

I was under the impression a couple of weeks ago that it was 2GB or so of storage, but now I'm signed in it says I have 24.99GB of space left??? Maybe they have upped it....

Best wishes
Lesley

You have two external hard drives. Do you keep one of them elsewhere (such as in someone else's house), in case of disaster (theft, flood, fire etc.)?

All the best,

No, Andrew, but both of them ARE kept in a firesafe and I only ever take them out one at a time.

My kids gave each other a very old fashioned  "Mum's finally gone loopy" look when I asked for them to buy the safe between them for my birthday. It's not a huge thing, but holds the HD's and some important paperwork.

The backups on DVD's are, however, kept at my daughter's house.
