Hi all,
After my original query, I thought i must "of" been a right eejit to even mention RM, with no response for five weeks, but now things are warming up, I feel a lot better; still yet to take a decision and then find time to start putting in all the data, but please keep it coming, as all feedback is more than welcome.
Thanks to you all.

I still can't get a narrative report (other than page one) , so I contacted RM. Got a reply, basically asking if I know the difference between Ancestors and Descendants!! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr That didn't help!

Hi Scozzie,
I thought ancestors were them, and descendants were us. Tell me if I´m wrong............... :?

Keep me posted though.... :)

Hi Thrall - your ancestors are your parents, grandparents etc., your descendants are your children.

Remember - insanity is hereditary - you get it from your children.

Hi All,

I've been using the free Family Search program for some time now but have been swithering about upgrading to a more comprehensive family tree program. After reading the comments regarding Roots Magic and Brother's Keeper I downloaded trial versions of both. At the moment, for me at least, Brother's Keeper is just a nose in front. Most of what I read on TS highlighted the positive aspects of the respective programs. Are there any negatives? When printing lists of infomation in Brother's Keeper is there any way of producing grid lines similar to Excel?

Cheers,
Jim

RE ROOTS MAGIC

Post by ASGROOMBRIDGE » Thu Jan 05, 2006 11:06 pm

Hi All,

Tried Roots Magic but could not get on with it, I went on to use Family Tree Maker which I find really good and very simple to use.

I wasn't too keen on Roots Magic either. My favourite software was "The Master Genealogist" but I found the reports and charts not to good. I've stick to using Family Tree Maker now. As someone who used to write Windows software applications for a living I'd love to do my own but I just don't have the time- those pesky kids! :)

re Writing your own

Post by ASGROOMBRIDGE » Fri Jan 06, 2006 4:35 pm

Good afternoon Rab,

If you wrote one it would be a genealogists dream as you would know exactly what to put in it. Can I request a slot with the reationship to the researcher.

Please put me first on the list to buy. :D :D :D

Regards,
Audrey
