Hello Bob
I thought I would reply to your post about SP2.

I must be a bit thick (ok no comments from the side please  )
I downloaded SP2 a while ago and boy was it big, but your comment about things running slow hit a chord. It is with my word programme that it is really slow to load, now I know the possible reason, all the spyware checks it does.
Not much help to your query Bob, but at least I know now why my word programme runs slow.

Hi Moonwatcher

I see you are having problems with SP2 on your computer. There is a list at Microsoft, of programs that are known to experience a loss of functionality when run on windows xp with SP2. I am not sure if I can post a link here so I wont but if you pm me I will give u the information, it appears ther may be some work arounds on some programs. I did find these tips also

SP2 TIPS

Here are tips from Microsoft and an expert author on how to successfully install Microsoft's important Service Pack 2 enhancements to its Windows XP operating system:

Don't give up. The protection it offers is worth the pain it may cause.

Call Microsoft's free support line, and consult its online help.

Call the company that made your computer. You may be charged for the call, but it's worth the expense.

Don't download any software you don't absolutely need and trust.

Use the automatic-update feature in Windows XP to download, in the background, the frequently issued fixes that can keep you safe.
