Hi Anne, It certainly wasn't pleasant and I am really happy that I make backups on CDs often.Thank heavens for my paper records or I'm sure I would be bald long ago,but as long as I have them I can never really loose my tree.

Family tree showing reationships

Post by Maud Jarvis » Fri Jul 29, 2005 3:32 pm

Hi
Have you tried using Tribal Pages, this is a free site on which you can put all your family tree and then you can ask the question of who is related to you etc, you insert your name and the person you are asking about, any relationship will be shown

Number for the site is www.tribalpages.com
as said, it is free, you can if you wish at a later stage, have an upgraded one for which small payment is made, this has many extras on it, bu the free site is just as good, have a look and see what you think
Seeking any descendents from Ezekiel McCulloch, Port Glasgow, also Neil Barr (Greenock)

Tribal Pages

Post by Alcluith » Fri Jul 29, 2005 3:55 pm

I originally used Tribal Pages as my website but found that the amount of Spam etc rose considerable.
Then there is the legal implications of listing any living relatives, photos and of course any scanned documents. [-o<
My decision was to remove my FT from this site and stay with good old Legacy where you can hold all photos, documents and all those funny photos you have of wee Jimmie, as a kid, running along the beach naked, try posting that on the net nowadays [-X

Hello Dennis,

I have been including the MC's, BC'c, DC's from SP into my Legacy program for a while now. It's great because once you download into Legacy you can attach that file/photo to not only numerous individuals but also to numerous events for any individual such as name, birth, death, residence etc. A BC can be used as a source for not only that persons actual birth date but for the 'Name' source for the parents, or even as a source for 'Occupation'. The nice thing about this feature is that even though you are attaching it to many different people and events, you actually only have one copy on your hard drive so it doesn't take up too much space.

Happy Hunting (and decision making)....

Kellly,
Thanks for sharing about the fact that you include your BCs, MCs and DCs in your Legacy program. I use Legacy and had inserted all the photos relating to my family, people and places. However I had never thought of the certs.

Now its done and I've discovered what a bonus it is for reading badly written or pale documents. As you zoom in and the letters get larger, the ink gets darker and you can move quickly from one corner of the cert to another.

However I still need help to interpret what I do read, so will be uploading a cert to the Gallery.

not sure which part you mean - did you mean the age? Looks like "2 ms" - two months.

Same outcome, but slightly different interpretation. I thinks that it's "2M", i.e. 2 months, - you can check this via the matching birth entry in the Register of Births.

Hi Catriona,

Could it be Pit H or Plot H?

The one lower down the page looks more like Pub H..

Later................... I've just looked the occupations of both and I can only think it is Pub. H (for Public House)!!!
