Can some one please help with this query ??
When I first thought about starting my family tree I was given the programm "The Master Genealogist" silver UK edition. I put it way and forgot about it.
Now I have come across it again and thought I might use it, the problem with that is it is for Windows 95/98/2000, I now have XP does this mean that I can no longer use it ??.
I have FTM 2006 version 16, but I want to create a new tree for some one else, and I'm not sure if I can do this with my tree on FTM, I only want this friend to have their family who is linked with mine, and mine where the two family's connect.
Hope all this makes some sort of sense
Thanks-Trish

Load up the program to see if it works.
If not, after it's loaded Right Click your mouse on the desktop shortcut to the program.
A pop-up menu will appear. Choose the last option Properties.
Another pop-up window will appear with four tabs, click on Compatibility
Tick the box "Run this Program in Compatibility Mode for:"
A dropdown will become available for Win 95, 98/ME, NT 4 and 2000
Choose Win 2000
That should get you going

Hello Trish,
Some things you could look at.
Maybe the wireless isn’t getting the signal through every time. You could check all wired connections anywhere even if it’s only the one between the wall and your modem.
As well as email, does it work okay in Notepad, and in Microsoft Word or anywhere else where all the action is confined to your own computer.
Or is it only occurring when you type directly into a website such as TS or into Google or whatever i.e. directly over the internet.
It seems to be happening to all parts of the keyboard, i, v, a, r, s. Is it a new keyboard or one you’ve always used?
When you go back to correct the missing letter do you feel that you have to use more pressure than you would normally to get it to work?
Try using the onscreen keyboard. I think it’s under Start/Accessories/Accessibility. Use the mouse to press the onscreen keys. See if the problem still occurs in the same circumstances as it was before.
See how you go,
Alan
LATER: Also
If it’s a separate keyboard try moving it closer to the receiver on the computer.
or
Try typing slower and see what happens.

I have an older version of FTM, and in the help section, under "sharing information" it explains how to copy/export selected groups of individuals to a new file. It's quite easy to do. I have several trees for individual families, as well as my main one. The only restriction is that you can only have two open at any one time.

Hi Alan
Thanks for your input.
Yes it seem to happen on TS not on Mirosoft Word & pad or email, it first stared about a year ago and I thought my keyboard was worn out after 5 years so I bought a new one and it's just the same.
Yes I do have to apply more pressure some times I have to hit it 2-3 times before it connects, it really is annoying ( I would never pass a typing exam as it is )
I haven't tried the on screen keyboard but will look at it later. No I can't move the keyboard closer to the computer as it's a split level desk, but it is the same desk I have been using for the past 8-10 years.
Iwill go over all the connecions as you mentioned and see if that helps, will get back to you later.
Thanks again.
Trish
