Hi Ina,
I thinks that's great to be able to find a suitable tartan that celebrates being a Marine and shows his ancestry. I didn't know about every state having a tartan though - down here in the Midlands of England I cannot even find a Caledonian Society. I do look forward to my New Year trips back up north to get back to my roots.

3.30am Tracey- and have been making marmalade labels this morning !
However I did have another rumage in the loft as well and FOUND Paul Remfry's book on SIM families. His ancestors and mine last corresponded in the 17th century. Will forward soonest.
My lot were in Antigua then back to Banff and over the firth to Ross-shire, Scotsburn, Balintraid,Drummond and Ardullie farms. As well as farmers they produced a number of ministers. My gt gt aunts Ross married brothers Sim and one couple went to Oz in 1853 on the ship Mobile then started a dynasty of their own.
Am happy to share but too much to copy here. Enquiries welcome though.
Have a good weekend.
Fransmoi.
