HENRY WRIGHT - BORN 1881 MOSBOROUGH DERBYSHIRE DIED 1922 MARCH CRESWELL COLLIERY ACCIDENT DERBYSHIRE
I am trying to trace the resting place of my gran dad who I never knew. I know he died in a pit accident in March 1922 at Creswell Colliery. I am assuming he was buried as I would not thought cremations were done then but could be wrong. His wife was called Sarah MN Wainwright. They had 4 sons Tom, Henry, John and Arthur. They lived at AnnStreet, Creswell. Your help would be appreciated

Thank you for this information as my dad never talked about his dads death. Would I still be able to access the newspaper archives?

The British Newspaper Archive site is here https://www.britishnewspaperarchive.co.uk/
They offer a pretty mean and miserable free trial when you register.
You can access the Derbyshire Parish Records at Ancestry here https://www.derbyshire.gov.uk/leisure/l ... story.aspx
You need to register to see them.

This is a link to the search results for “Henry Wright” for March 1922. I should have posted it earlier. https://www.britishnewspaperarchive.co. ... rder=score
Maybe you will get another free trial if you can use another email address?
Early Chesterfield Coroner records appear to have been destroyed. https://recordoffice.wordpress.com/2020 ... r-records/
Best of luck

A bit more a bit later. This is from the Derby Daily Telegraph, Wednesday, January 28, 1931. The Society mentioned was operating in 1922, and presumably would have provided assistance to the widow and children.
25 YEARS AN OFFICIAL.
Mr. George Orme was congratulated at the annual meeting, yesterday, of Creswell Colliery Sick, Accident and Death Society on completing 25 years’ service as an official.
It was stated that each year £620 was paid by Derby Midland Fatal Accident Society to widows and children of men killed at Creswell Colliery. Mr. G. Orme was re-elected president, Mr. A. E, Holmes secretary, and Bolsover Colliery Co., Ltd., treasurers.

I have the date of burial for the above person and his wife and got the church. Is there a way of finding out the plot number where they are? Would I need to go through the people who keep the burial details. The dates are 1922 and 1931.
