Menzies .....

Hi

Has anyone access to the Birmingham marriage records as my great grandfather Peter Menzies married Margaret Watt 19 March 1889 in Birmingham he was 18 year older thar her approx. b. abt 1847 Milothian Edinburgh. They then moved to Edinburgh and then to Glasgow where their children were all born. On the 1891 census of Edinburgh it says that Margaret came from Stockton-on Tees.

I also need someone with access to Newcastle-upon-Tyne Marriage records as Peter Married Eliza Dalgliesh in Newcastle-upon-Tyne date unknown they had their children in Edinburgh the first being born 1860. I have 4 different marriage dates all for the month of December. The only date I can find is for 1865 but it does not give the month.

Peter was blind from an accident [ whe this happened i do not know] this is recorded in the 1871 census of Edinburgh and his occupation given as a Jute Worker he was also a street musician. Hope some can help.

Can’t look up the marriage records from the US but while I was searching on www.1837online.com I took a quick look for Peter’s marriages in the English indices. You can order the marriage certificates directly on line at…

You must “log in” before ordering. Each certificate will cost seven pounds if you can supply the correct GRO Reference numbers. Here are the correct Ref. Numbers. Just follow the directions for ordering.

Marriage: Peter Menzies & Elizabeth Dalgliesh, 4th Quarter, 1865, Newcastle T, 10B, 283

Marriage: Peter Menzies & Margaret Watts, 1st Quarter, 1889, Birmingham, 6D, 209

These are correct and have been crossed referenced by the brides surname.

I notice that you are looking for ancestors in Moray and Banffshire here is a site the Moray Hreitage have put on line for people to do searches http://libindx.moray.gov.uk/mainmenu.asp.

Thank you for checking Peter's marriages for me I have taken note so that I can order the certs. As foe his marriage to Eliza it confirms that they have fibed about their marriage date to stop the children born before being registered as illegitimete.

If I can help you any anyway foe your Moray ancectors let me know.

Thanks for the info my great grandfather fairly got around 12 Kids and 3 wives traveling all over England from Edinburgh. What a man !!!!
