Clara Mary Ann Flynn's grandparents
Hi Sarah, I haven't had any success in tracing David Flynn's parents, birth, marriage or death certs. I think they may have been born in Ireland which makes it difficult, and I don't know when they came over to Britain. Any suggestions? Once I find out where they came from in Ireland I can use (or try anyway) other sources. Many thanks in anticipation - every little helps.

Hi Diana,
There are many on this site who have more experience with Irish research than I do. I'll have a look, but perhaps someone more knowledgeable will be along soon!
Regards,
Sarah

Hi Sarah, I have been trawling several sites to find Thomas Flynn and Catherine Mahoney without success. There are lots of them out there but it is linking them together which is proving difficult. Their son David's birth certificate is the only positive piece of information. Any ideas? Thanks. Diana

Hi Diana,
Have you looked at this marriage certificate? It should give Thomas' occupation, which will help find him in the censuses. Also, it should give his father's name and occupation.
Name: Thomas Flynn
Year of Registration: 1852
Quarter of Registration: Jan-Feb-Mar
District: Stepney (To 1921)
County: London, Middlesex
Volume: 1c
Page: 867
There is a Catherine Mahoney on the same page and there are only two couples listed... so there is a 50% chance that Thomas married Catherine Mahoney on that day.
Was Thomas' occupation recorded on David's birth certificate?
Regards,
Sarah

Re: Clara Mary Ann Flynn's grandparents
Have found my gggGrandfather (Thomas Flynn's father) David, but having trouble (like many others) finding details of him. I know that the family came from Co.Cork - maybe even Cork itself. Where do you suggest I look next? Diana
