My Canadian relatives think this is not the Grace Little I asked about.....the latest is that one of them will be in Dublin next spring and will do some afor us! People are so very helpful.
Researching:
LITTLE - Scotland, Lancashire, Dublin and South Africa. And Canada.
RITCHIE, BARR - Scotland
ANDREWS, MEMERY, DOWSE and BIRMINGHAM - Dublin
PRICE, JACKSON, ROGERS, ALLEN - N. Wales

Hello again.
An update on Gracie Little whose birth certificate I was after.
My relative's friend found it in Dublin, and now I know why the GRO didn't. It didn't have her parent's name on the certificate. What it said was "child of a bottlemaker."

This is actually a very sad episode. I heard that what is remembered in the Canadian family, is that Gracie's father carried her body home from the hospital. Her brother was there and both were crying. I can now just see her father brushing off any attempt to take down details, and just walking out with her.
So they put down what they knew.
At least now we know where it happened.

Hello Alison & Christmas greetings

It is always pleasing to find someone - but often sad when their lives were not as we would want - so no doubt worthwhile to find the little one in Ireland.

Trish

And Christmas Greetings to you too Trish.

I can also tell you that her father always carried a photo of her which was only found recently.

From this date in Dublin, we also know that the family did not arrive in Glasgow until after 1814 - borne out by their not appearing in the one Glasgow roll, 1914, that is on the GlasgowStory site.
The new bottle-making machine had put so many out of work, that her father became a shipbuilder on the Clyde.
