Martin Murray born 1875 Ireland

Post by jjlmary312 » Wed Dec 19, 2012 10:47 pm

Martin Murray was born in 1875 in Ireland and married Margaret Heaney who was born in Irealnd in 1875. They moved to England and lived in Hemsworth, Wesy Yorkshire. Two of their children were called Honorial Whitehall who died in 19xx aged 58. Winifred Murray was born <after 1911> and married Arthur Whitehall. She is still living. Can anyone supply me with the detail of the place where Martin M and Margaret H married and also the names of both sets of parents for them.

Hi jjlmary312

That is quite a big ask unless there happens to be someone out there who has researched the family already.
Where have you looked? Have you tried free BMD? Where are they in 1911? (married with childen?)

Or if they were married in Ireland you could try the family search web site - you can find Irish indexes there. https://familysearch.org/search/collect ... Id=1927084
Let us know how you get on.

Even if you locate the event, in England or Ireland, the mother's name will not be given on the cert.

Best wishes
Lesley

From the 1911 census, Martin, recorded as a Coal miner (Hewer) aged 35, was born about 1876 in County Galway.
Margaret is listed as 29 years old born in County Mayo.

Five children ranging from 7 - 2 years old are recorded in the House. All born in Hemsworth, West Yorkshire

On FamilySearch There are many Martin Murray baptisms, etc. in Galway from 1873 - 1877. One leaps out of the page:

Martin Murray born 17 Oct 1874 Williamstown, Glennamaddy, Galway to Martin and HONOR Tully.

A check on the 1901 census DOES list an Irish born Martin Murray in Doncaster (about 10 miles from Hemsworth).

A Parenrts search on FS for Martin Murray and Honor Tully yields 4 children born to this couple the eldest Bridget in 1865 Aran Islands, Galway. Honor 01 Feb 1865 Williamstown, Galway; Peter 29 Jun 1872 Williamstown, Galway then Martin.

On looking at the 1901 census Martin a Coal Hewer age 24 is staying with his married brother, Peter listed as a 26-year-old Coal miner hewer born in Ireland. Peter and his wife, Florence, 22 born in Bolton already had three children ranging from 4 - 1 all born in Bolton.

Of 6 boarders staying at the house one was a Thomas Heaney.

In 1904 there is the marriage of Martin Murry to Margaret in Hemsworth and in 1896 a marriage of Peter Murray to Flora Westerman in Rotherham (about 10 miles from Doncaster). You would have to order these to check the Father's name. But it looks fairly good for this being the correct family (or part thereof).

In the 1911 census in Hemsworth there are two other Heanys listed, Patric, 30, a coal miner hewer and his unmarried sister Ellen, 24, both were born in County Mayo. Unfortunately these two are a bit too recent to be included on the original FS records.

Hope this was of help.
Searching for Keogh, Kelly, Fitzgerald, Riddell, Stewart, Wilson, McQuilkin, Lynch, Boyle, Cairney, Ross, King, McIlravey, McCurdy, Drennan and Woods (to name but a few).

Also looking for any information on Rathlin Island, County Antrim, Ireland.
