Robert Glover 1829 Ireland Help or Direction

MY Great Great Grandfather Robert Glover born 1829( maybe as early as 1824 or as late as 1832) in Ireland per the 1850 Westmoreland Co, PA census and the 1880 Census.
I know the 1880 Census is correct person.
I AM NOT SURE THAT THE 1850 CENSUS IS MY ROBERT, so the parents may not be right.
I believe ?? he was Naturalized in Allegheny Co. Pa in 1859
I know the 1860 Census is my Robert Glover, listed as a Laborer
Robert dies Dec 1882 at age 51 in Lower St. Clair, Pittsburgh, Allegheny Co., PA and he has a will dated 13 Nov 1882
I would like to go back if possible for location in Ireland and parents or siblings.

I know this is not much to go on and that is why I have not found a lead.

PS. I located the Robert Glover family as members of a United Presbyterian Church in Lower St. Clair PA

Hi Redhat,

If it is your man in 1870 in Birmingham, Allegheny, PA, then he is next door to a Jas Glover age 77 born in Ireland -- his father? And with him Elizabeth age 25 born Ireland - Sister? Then:
Glover, Robt 46, foreman, Ireland
--- Mary, 35, House keeper, Ireland
--- Sarah, 18, PA
--- Annie, 8, PA
--- Martha, 3, PA

Robt's age is off, but his wife and daughter's names and ages match with the 1880 record. In the 1860 census it looks as though Sarah is Mary's daughter by a previous marriage.

There is a baptism on 19 Jul 1829 in Killinchy, Down, Ireland at the Presbyterian church. Father's name Jas.
I know there is no proof this is your Robert, but it's worth looking into if you can. Don't ask me how

Back again. Have you tried tracing other Glovers born in Ireland and living in Allegheny county, in case they are siblings? It is a refreshingly unusual name.

There is Henry, for example, called age 50 in the 1860 census, living in Pittsburgh with wife Anne and children William 14, Jane 11, James 8, Henry 5 and Robert 2. The first three were born in Ireland and the last two in Pennsylvania, which gives a time frame for the arrival. In 1880 Henry has has only gained 10 years, putting his birthdate in 1820, rather than 1810. The children's ages have wobbled a bit too and he may or may not have another wife.

The main point with this rambling aside is that there is a baptism for a Henry Glover, father Jas at the same church in Killinchy, Down, on 3 Nov 1820. Well… maybe?

Okay, grasping at straws, but it certainly seems more promising than the last handful of people I tried and failed to trace back to Ireland.

There don't seem to be that many in Ireland -- not like, dare I say it, trying to search for a Kelly in a haystack

Regarding how common the name Glover is in Ireland, there’s 638 in the 1901 census. (14 named Robert Glover). 220 Glovers lived in Co Antrim, 179 in Co Down, 19 in Co Derry, and numerous others in Dublin, Galway & Kerry. However if the family were Presbyterian, then nearly all the Presbyterian Glovers are to be found in Cos Antrim and Down with a handful in Derry & Tyrone. None anywhere else. So that looks like your main search area.

Being Presbyterian, in Antrim, Down, Derry or Tyrone also tells you their ancestors originated in Scotland. Probably came to Ireland in the 1600s.
