Having been assured that John O'Reilly was born 21/4/1912,
I sent to GRONI for b.cert. They searched 1910-1914 with no trace.
His m.cert. 1938, Bonhill states his parents as John Reilly and
Ellen Finegan.
His d.cert. states his mother as Alice McEnroe.
If anyone has access to Irish records, could they please have a look for any of the parents.
I don't think any of the parents were ever in Scotland.

Hi Cathy, Do you know that there are 2 townlands called Derrynascobe? One you already know about in the parish of Clogher, Tyrone, but there is another in Parish of Magheracloone, Co Monaghan .
Either parish (civil) birth (north or south) can be applied for on. (up till 1922)
http://www.groireland.ie/research.htm
I wonder if your informant only had the townland name and presumed it was Clogher Parish. (only you will know the reliability of informant)
There's also the possibility of a problem with the spelling of Reilly/O'Reilly, which one did you ask for or did you ask for both or all? I am not sure that they would look for spelling variants automatically.
An afterthought If you do send for another cert. search, don't mention where you think he was born, or they might disregard all other possibilities. Just leave place of birth blank.
Just one more thought, depending on Johns wife age,(if she was a bit younger or younger), could his age have waivered by a few years, thus missing the 4 year search?

Hello Tullyboy.
Such an old post. I haven't done any work on my tree for ages.
Where would this census be?
Regards,
Cathy.

Hi Cathy
If you do a google for 1911 ireland you will find it!
It is free to search and view, along with the 1901.
best wishes

Thanks John. Hopefully I'll get some time in the near future to pick up the threads again.
