French Franc
Have found a French franc note which I believe belonged to my grandfather. It is dated 1916. the condition of it is not too bad - it has been kept flat and in a wee wallet along with a card telling my grandfather to take his Protection Certifcate along to a Post Office where an account book will be issued to him. It is dated 19th Feb 1919.

Hi Anne
I'm not sure at all what it would've been for. I have uploaded the card but other than that i have no further information. I would like to find out more though! I also googled but am none the wiser really.

It wouldn't have something to do with his wife having access to part of his service pay while he was away, could it?

I'm grateful for all your suggestions and help - can't find anything else that would answer the question.

Hi all
This looks like it might answer the question. The clue for me was the 11/18 on the bottom line which as an ex civil servant I guessed meant the date the postcard was produced, so it had to be something to do with the end of the war.
