Naturalization Records

Post by mcblondie » Tue Nov 07, 2006 10:53 am

Hi all,

Just wondering where i would obtain information re: Naturalization records? My g.father (Lithuanian) was always being checked on by the authorities since he entered Scotland back in 1910 (illegal alien) for many, many years. I am unsure as to whether he ever became a British Citizen, but if he did i would like to know how i'd go about getting information about this?

Thanks for any help and advice
Katie :)

Hi Katie

See http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/cata ... fletID=243 and work your way through the leaflet.

Alternatively go straight to the catalogue search page at http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/catalogue/search.asp and search on his name, - but note that John Smith as a search term must be written as John AND Smith (the caps for AND are deliberate).

The complication can be the spelling of his name.

That second address above should have taken you there, - let's try again ...... http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/cata ... ch.asp?j=1 , - it's the ""Word or phrase" field in which you type in the name (remember the AND!).
