Hope you and yours are well.

Me again

Post by mcblondie » Fri Dec 15, 2006 2:16 pm

I had a look at the blog Davie, the photo's are lovely, there's one with a young woman with her mother and then another one with a couple.

That census you posted, i've had a look and i think the name on it is Alex Polockas? I'll need to wait til i get more credits and do a sear on this family and see if they are related to me. My grandfather's brother came from the Bellshill, Mossend area but i'm unsure of his first name, plus i don't know when they arrived here. I'm still waiting for the Hamburg lists to go online so that i can purchase the one with my grandfather on it and that should tell me where he came from in Lithuania plus his next of kin. :)

As for Bella, both of us having McGrory's in our family wow who knows we possibly could be related down the line.

Hi Davie,

Hi Katie.
It took me a while tae find the site.
And found another few on my searches.
I know two descendents of Katriana Millonakis
She married a Czech called Thomas Shabikus.
They don’t know how tae spell it either.
Ah keep tellin’ thaem they ur Greek Orthodox, no Jewish.
Trying to trace the Russian/Lithuanian/Polish ancestors frae Lanarkshire is hard tae say the least.
Ah huve wan pal, Joe O’Hara, as his grt Granda took the name of his gaffer at the pit in Cambuslang.
Luckily enough for him he is a Tim and no Yiddish.
His cousin Joseph Pinerowski (no sure if that is the right spellin’ either, but will fin oot) was in the same BB Company as me.
We gote intae trouble when we cawd him Pinocchio, and that wiz long before oanywan knew aboot political correctness.
