I am still on the trail of my Kilpatrick ancestors and have recently discovered one that I have been searching for - 'poor Mary, how she must have suffered', written by her sister in South Africa to her brother in Glasgow. I have now found Mary and her family living in Rosevale Street, Partick and discovered what her suffering was about. Sadly her youngest son Alexander Grey died, aged 17, of a bullet wound to the heart - 'supposed suicide' according to the RCE attached to the death certificate. He died in the Western Infirmary, Glasgow on 19/11/1904. I am trying to find out more about the circumstances of his death and have been searching for a newspaper report but am not having much luck. I have tried the Glasgow Herald but could not find anything. I wondered if anyone on the forum can unearth anything for me? It would be good to know more about this terrible event.
Thanks!
Fiona

Re: Alexander Grey suicide report
Hello Fiona,
I checked the Scotsman and couldn’t find anything. I then went through Google’s Glasgow Herald for the 19th in case it made it there, and Monday the 21st, and still no luck. The 19th is at the back of the 18th. I had to stop there because of nodding off.
All the best,
Alan

Thanks for looking Alan. I suppose it may not have been reported in the paper but it seemed like the kind of thing that would have had a mention. I went slightly boggle-eyed going through the pages of the Herald!
