Just found out that Strathclyde Genealogy Centre at Park Circus in Glasgow has been upgraded and can now access the DIGROS mainframe in Edinburgh, which means that on-screen digisitised images are available instead of having to use microfiches. This has been the plan for some time.
I'm not sure of the exact coverage for BMD, - it's something like up to the mid-1960s so far, altho' the intention is that it will eventually be up to the present day.
I'm assuming that this also means that the indexes and image for the 1871, 1891, and 1901 censuses are also on-screen (plus the 1881 index and transcripts).

Re: Park Circus upgrade
Hello Davie,
I was in NRH a month ago, and the images there covered up to 1965, but the 1871 census was not available. One of the friendly supervisors said that there were some capacity problems on the GROS computer.
The same limitations will apply to the Park Circus link.
Regards,
John
