Hi,

I am descended from Maria Jane Foulner and John Brown Robertson, so I thought I'd share what I found, if that is of interest to you and you are out there still. And, of course, it contradicts a little here and there.

Maria Jane Foulner and John Brown Robertson emigrated to Canada in 1872 with their daugher, Ann Bond Robertson. They had 4 more children in Canada. Maria Jane died in Muskoka, Ontario, in 1937. Her death was registered by her daugher, Ann Bond Robertson Boothby. John Brown Robertson died in 1913.

What I have different from your findings is that I have an Ann Bond born in Scotland-- Lesmahagow, Lanark, Scotland, on 23 Apr 1820 with the birth name Ann Rob(b) Bond.

As I recall, you mentioned using ancestry, so this is the death record. They did mis-spell Foulner, however.

Hello, I just came across this board during my research on the Foulners of Glasgow, and it has been most helpful, thanks to all that contributed information.

I am related to the Foulners through Elizabeth Foulner (daughter of James Foulner and Mary Abbey). I am trying to learn why many of my ancestors in this line carry the middle name of Rainier. The first I have encountered it was through Daniel Rainier Foulner. (Elizabeth’s brother.) I assume it was a mother’s maiden name at some point, but like many of you, I am having trouble searching further than John Foulner, stocking mfg.

Has anyone one else encountered the name Rainier?

Welcome to the forum.

It's been quite a while since I was active on this site, as I have searched all the posibilities I can think of. So a brick wall with my family back beyond 1700, and am now concentrating within NZ from 1842.

As I have retained an old dialup email address, I still get the occasional prompt to TS. But in this instance, sorry nothing new to report, with regard to this post. If you find a hint that the ones who arrived on our NZ shores could be of interest, please get back to me. I am familiar with NZ archive searches.
