Re: Providence, RI question for Marilyn
Marilyn,
Forgot to mention that I have reconnected with my first cousins on this side of the family. These are my Dad's sister's children whom we were not allowed to play with even they lived one block over from us because their father and our mother had a championship grudge match going... They are as baffled as we are as to the reason, but anyway, the oldest, Tom, says his mother left a trunk full of family papers and pictures. Unfortunately, it is at his younger brother's house across the state and it is winter up there... Can't wait to hear what is in that trunk after the spring thaw!

Carol, now that's what I would call a "treasure chest" maybe there is some information about Oaklawn Cemetery in there, one can only hope
Looking forward to hearing what you discover hidden away. Spring is right around the corner!

Hi Carole,
Its been a while
I thought you might be interested in reading this article about Oakland Cemetery. I've left many messages for Mr. Dodd myself and he never returns the calls.

Thanks Marilyn! Nice to hear from you again though the article is dismaying. I guess this guy just doesn't care about anyone but himself!

Re: Providence, RI question for Marilyn
Hi Carole,
Having lost two very close family members this year, I can't imagine what I would do if they were to be buried in this cemetery?? I don't mean no ill will on anyone, but this care- take is just heartless.
Regards

Hi Carole,
Just to keep you updated, I am hopeful that maybe in the near future I may get my hands on a map of this cemetery?

Thanks Marilyn! Maybe there is hope yet though this sounds like it is just about the mausoleum. Maybe it will shake loose some info on the cemetery too.

Re: Providence, RI question for Marilyn
Yes it is about the mausoleum within Oaklawn Cemetery, but I'm going to follow up with the department involved with this investigation to see if there any cemetery records? I recently had to purchase a grave stone for my step son and this cemetery came up in the conversation I had with the women. When I asked how she dealt with this caretaker, she rolled her eyes and wished me good luck then she handed me his cell phone number. Of course he didn't return my phone call yet again.

Good news! Find A Grave now has pictures of the gravestones in Oakland Cemetery! I found my Longmuir family gravestone. Nice picture. Looks like it was posted in 2013. Progress is being made if they are letting someone in to take pictures!
