Hi Carol,Please don't do anything dangerous to take those pictures! I know you're smarter than that, but I had to say it anyway!
My mother didn't raise no dummy here I know when and where to cross the line. Its not like bullets will be flying over our heads, but there are some gangs in the area, which ya can't help to take notice of unless
you're stupid. So much for big city life, give me the country anyday. I've lived in Rhode Island for the past 50+ years and only learned my way around Providence, when I attended Johnson & Wales University 20 years ago.
Regards
Marilyn

Don't worry Marilyn,
If anything goes wrong we'll all chip in and buy a medal.
"Presented by TalkingScot ............................... supreme sacrifice .............................. above and beyond the call of duty"
The very first TalkingScot martyr. (Apart from those driven to distraction by Family History)

Providence, RI question for Marilyn
Good morning,
I've decided to name my computer HAL! MSN decided that the problem was the accelerator level which compresses pictures etc. to speed up text downloading. So I followed their instructions and sure enough my accelerator was set at Fastest instead of Normal. Only problem is, I did not do that and no one uses this computer but me!!!
Anyway, now the pictures in the Gallery are fine, but the pictures on the home page (bridge and sculpture) are still blurred. Will keep working on this, though I can think of about ten other things I'd rather be doing!

Thanks Marilyn. I'll be watching for that information.
I heard back from Fiona Musk at the Aberdeen City archives this morning. I wish I had a flying carpet because I'm still up in the air! I asked them to look for Sophia Chalmers Clerihew's grave because I had her death certificate. She wasn't in Nellfield after all. In fact, they couldn't find her. Fiona did find George Clerihew in St. Peter's. There is a gap in the records for St. Peter's from March 1861 to January 1863, just the periord I needed, of course. What's left me up in the air is that she also found some more Clerihew's--Mrs. Clerihew 1835, Peter Clerihew 1830, and Mary Clerihew 1837. The problem is that the only Mary I know of doesn't belong to my branch of the Clerihew's so now I don't know if this is the correct George or not!
Fiona has referred me to the burials department in hopes that they have more information. Also, burials has the location maps which aren't held at the archives.
I need another cup of coffee!

I didn't see your post until a moment ago
Assuming that you're joking around, very funny.
But in the event that you're not. Let me just set the record straight!
I am not a martyr, that's for sure. Just ask anyone who knows me.
The only reason I'm conversing back and forth with Carol on the board, rather then e-mail, is for the viewing pleasure of our members and for no other reason. I can't tell you the amount of posts that drop off into pm's or e-mail, when I wanted to hear how the search ended.
And just for your information, the area that Carol's relatives lived in, is now infested with gangs. Certainly you've heard of gangs, their the type of folk who kill people for no reason. Between the Latin Kings & the something Rascals there has been 24 murders in this area in 2007, so if one did not venture into their turf that would make them a martyr? I don't think so...........
Regards
Marilyn

Hi Marilyn
I certainly was not thinking serious gangs - that sounds really scary.
Best wishes
Lesley
Crikey, Marilyn - when you metioned gangs I was thinking gangs of yoofs who hang around street corners being loud and silly and often drinking Buckie (Buckfast wine, a cheap way of getting drunk in Scotland!) , and who you tend to avoid if possible, if only because they are a little unpredictable.Between the Latin Kings & the something Rascals there has been 24 murders in this area in 2007
