Jean mclaren Emigrated to Canada 1926
Hi wondering if anyone can help. Was so excited last night to find my aunt Jeannie mclaren on a ships passengers list for Canada.I was told that she had went to America with her brother James.I always had my doubts about her going to America as we had postcard pictures of her and i was sure it had ontario and Totonto on them.Sadly dont know where the photos are now.Says on the ships manifest that she went to Rosary Hall 478 Albert Street Ottowa Ontario.Googled it and found it was a a nuns home. She came from Kilsyth Stirlingshire and were Catholics so im thinking maybe it was through the catholic church that she went there. She did marry and had a son but dont know her married name .If anyone could put me on the right track to finding her marriage or death certificate it would be greatly appreciated. All my mum used to tell me was that she was small when she waved her away on the ship and that Jeannie had died young and had a son.By the way this building is now an Inn hit hard times in the 1960s and was used as a brothel lol. Its a beautiful big house and to think my aunt Jeanie was once a domestic and lived there .Marguerite

Hi Marguerite
From reading your post it looks as though some of the answers you are looking for will be after our cut-off dates,
http://talkingscot.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6601
» Births up 1908
» Marriages up to 1933
» Deaths up to 1958
- regardless of country.
so we may not be able to help you fill in any details on the public forum.
Best wishes
Lesley

Hi Marguerite,
There are some Jean McLaren's mentioned on the Family Pilot site...have you tried looking on there?
http://pilot.familysearch.org/recordsea ... html#start
Might not be the person you're looking for but worth a go.
Regards,
Anne H

Hi Anne and Lesley
Thanks for the replies. You would think that i would be able to get a death certificate as my aunt Jeanie was born 1904.Would i not even be able to send for death or marriage records to Canada archives.Ive tried family search but no luck.Marguerite

Hi Marguerite:
1926 is the last year that the Ontario Archives has covered in historical marriages on microfilm, so not likely you'll be able to follow-up there.
